WA: Newman faces floods for the second time in three weeks

PERTH, Jan 2 AAP - Residents of the mining town of Newman are in shock this morning
after the town was flooded for the second time in three weeks.

Severe thunderstorms and more than 55mm of rain wreaked havoc on more than 20 houses
and buildings in Newman, 1,200km north of Perth.

Newman police spokesman Steve O'Meara said residents were still coming to grips with
the devastation caused by the storms.

"The flooding is unbelievable, it is as bad, if not worse, than what we had from Cyclone
